Meet Alec Scappa
Alec Scappa is a passionate educator and a Bachelor of Information Technology student at Macquarie University. He has been coaching at Trainstein Chess College for over a year, combining his enthusiasm for both chess and Rubik’s Cube to help students build strong problem-solving foundations. Alec’s personal chess journey—from a beginner to a 1900+ Chess.com rating in under two years—has given him deep insight into how consistent, structured effort leads to rapid growth.

In addition to teaching chess, Alec is Trainstein’s Head Rubik’s Cube Coach. What began as a fun high school hobby turned into a passion for teaching students how to approach even the most complex puzzles with confidence. His classes go beyond solving the classic 3×3 cube, exploring speed-solving techniques, larger cubes, and advanced methods in a fun, interactive setting. Alec believes that whether in chess or cubing, every student has the ability to improve—and the most rewarding moments are when they surprise themselves.
