Meet Clive Ng

Clive Ng is a FIDE Master and highly experienced chess coach with over a decade of teaching in schools across Sydney’s inner-west. He holds a Master of Teaching (Secondary) from Australian Catholic University and a Bachelor of Arts (Economics/English) from the University of Sydney. A 3-time City of Sydney Champion (2020–2023), Clive has earned an International Master norm and achieved peak ratings of FIDE 2168 blitz and ACF 2457 quick, making him one of the top active players in NSW.

Clive is passionate about both group and one-on-one coaching, with a particular focus on identifying and developing a student’s unique strengths and weaknesses. His coaching is delivered both in-person and online, leveraging digital tools to create an interactive and effective learning environment. Over the years, he has mentored several top Australian juniors. Clive believes chess is both a competitive pursuit and a tool for self-reflection, discipline, and growth.
