Meet Jack Naing
Jack Naing is a passionate chess coach and a third-year medical student at the University of Sydney. He previously completed a Bachelor of Biomedicine at the University of Melbourne in 2021. Jack began learning chess in 2020 just before the pandemic and quickly developed a love for the game’s strategic depth and problem-solving nature. He reached a peak Chess.com rating of 2225 and a FIDE rating of 1850, with a special interest in opening theory and teaching foundational principles to learners of all levels.
Since 2020, Jack has coached both individuals and groups, working with students from age 6 to 50. He has also delivered lectures at the Melbourne University Chess Club on various aspects of the game. Jack finds joy in helping others improve and believes that coaching is most rewarding when he sees his students gain confidence and skill over time.
Jack sees chess as a unique blend of logic and competition, and loves passing on that passion to his students.
