Meet Joshua Cruzado
Joshua Cruzado is a final-year student at the University of New South Wales, completing a double degree in Mechatronics Engineering and Computer Science. His strong analytical background and leadership as President of the UNSW Chess Club in 2022 reflect both his academic dedication and his commitment to the chess community. With a rating of 1400 and participation in multiple UNSW tournaments, Joshua brings a thoughtful and approachable perspective to teaching chess.
With over three years of coaching experience, Joshua has taught hundreds of students, primarily at the beginner to intermediate levels. His teaching style is visual, interactive, and focused on helping students develop a strong foundation in the game. He believes chess is a powerful tool for learning, and finds joy in guiding students toward their “aha” moments—where strategy, skill, and understanding all come together.
Joshua is passionate about helping students grow through chess by building both skill and confidence at every step.
