Meet Kevin Hu

Kevin Hu is an experienced chess coach with a background in civil engineering and project management. He holds a Bachelor (Honours) in Civil Engineering and a Diploma in Project Management. A competitive player with a FIDE peak rating of 1750, Kevin was part of the Knox Grammar School team that won the 2015 NSW Schools State Chess Championship, proudly representing one of the top chess schools in the country.

With over 8 years of coaching and proctoring experience, Kevin has worked with students of various ages and skill levels, focusing on fundamental understanding, decision-making, and building discipline through chess. He is passionate about teaching and finds joy in helping young players grow, improve, and gain confidence both on and off the board.

Kevin believes that sharing his love for chess with the next generation is both a privilege and a lifelong passion.
