Meet Peter Wu

Peter Wu is an experienced chess coach and a Bachelor of Actuarial Studies and Commerce student at the University of New South Wales. He began playing chess during the 2020 pandemic lockdowns as a way to stay connected with friends, but what started as a casual interest quickly turned into a passion. Drawn to the game’s demand for discipline, creativity, and resilience, Peter studied seriously and achieved an online peak rating of 2300 in blitz and bullet formats. He has also earned strong results over the board, including 1st place in the Inner West Open Blitz Tournament as a junior.

As one of the first coaches at Trainstein Chess College, Peter has worked with students across all levels—from complete beginners to JCL 400+ competitors. His coaching emphasizes active learning through personalized feedback and targeted exercises. He believes that chess is not just a game but a powerful tool for focus, perspective, and personal growth.
