Meet Thomas Xuan
Thomas Xuan is a FIDE Candidate Master and holds a PhD in Mathematics and Statistics from the University of New South Wales. With over 20 years of competitive chess experience and more than a decade of coaching, Thomas brings a rare blend of academic expertise and practical insight to his teaching. He holds an ACF rating of 2250+ and an online Chess.com rating between 2300–2400 across various time controls.
As the head chess coach of Trainstein Chess College, Thomas leads the development of structured, level-based programs designed to accelerate student progress. His coaching philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, strategic thinking, and a genuine love for learning. Through a systematic and student-focused approach, he has helped thousands of junior players build confidence and achieve long-term growth.
